Keeping regular learning provision going during times when pupils are not attending school, but are still well, is of great importance to reduce the impact on children’s education. This may be due to isolation, shielding or for other reasons.
At East Stour we work closely with our families to ensure that in the event where a child requires to temporarily learn from home, they have the opportunity to access high quality learning that they would be exposed to if they were in school.
We provide a flexible approach to remote learning as we know that everybody’s circumstances are different. We will offer a variety of daily learning activities across the curriculum in a variety of different formats, and ensure our monitoring of engagement and support to families is rigorous and consistent.
At East Stour we use an online platform called Seesaw to set work and communicate to parents. Seesaw can be accessed through the app or on a web browser. Students use built-in multimodal tools to capture what they know in their own Seesaw digital portfolio. Teachers are able to see children’s work, like and comment on it. There is also an app dedicated to parents so they are able to see what work their children are doing.
As this tool was utilised so well during lockdowns and self isolation periods we also use Seesaw to set homework each week and communicate class and school announcements with our parents and carers.
Please see our Remote Learning Policy for further information.
