Governor Experience:

Most recently I have served for 2 years as a staff governor at local college board level.  As part of the board, I review papers presented by the Senior Leadership Team, challenge and support on matters arising to improve the quality and performance of the college.  This has allowed me to understand the role of a board member and the purpose of a governing board

Hobbies and Interests:

One of my main interests is linked to my historic fulltime career in Hospitality and Catering and that is “eating out”.  I love trying new dishes and visiting up and coming or newly opened local eateries.

Why did you become a governor?

I have worked in Further Education for the last 21 years and over those years I have managed to secure a wealth and knowledge and experience in teaching learning and assessment, apprenticeships, analysing/interpreting data and managing change.     I started my career as a chef and enjoyed the buzz and fulfilment that that initially gave me, but I felt that I wanted more and so after becoming a mum, I turned my attention to teaching and have never looked back.  Being a governor facilitates the opportunity for me to share my knowledge and give back whilst helping to shape the next generation of young people from within our community.
