Stanley Barton from Wrens has won a prestigious writing award for East Stour Primary School. Stanley’s story was judged to be the best in the Ashford Region and he received his trophy as the Regional Winner in a school assembly.

The National Young Writers Award is a national writing competition run by Explore Learning and children aged between 5 and 14 can enter. The theme this year was “Mash Up” – combining two or more genres to create a mash up story, for example horror and comedy or spy and adventure.

The judges comments were

“We chose him as our regional winner as we could see that he put a lot of time in to the planning of his story, and really thought about the theme of this years competition. It was a very creative entry.
