Phase 1

Nursery & Reception

Our lively and caring Nursery is an integral of the school, joining in our special occasions such as Christmas festivities. It is run by a qualified teacher with a Nursery Nurse, Teaching Assistant and other helpers.

We aim, when teaching art at East Stour Primary, to stimulate children’s creativity and imagination through visual, tactile and sensory experiences. Pupils use colour, pattern, form, texture to communicate what they see, feel and think. They explore different artists and learn about diverse roles and functions of art in different ways. Art and creativity, play an important part in a child’s early development. The EYFS has many strands which encompass Art. Children should have free access to a range of art materials so they express themselves creatively during their child initiated time. The teaching of art reinforces and enhances the knowledge required in other curriculum areas. There will be lots of occasions when it is possible to relate Art to other areas in the curriculum. Teachers are encouraged to incorporate Art across the curriculum.
